Houbara Bustard Courtship Dance

A male Houbara Bustard in a courtship dance, in which he puffs up his beautiful white breast feathers and starts running far, usually in a prominent place, all in order to find a mate. Usually the Houbara is very shy and difficult to see, both because of his great camouflage and because it takes a lot of patience to see it. During the courtship period it is a good opportunity to photograph the Houbara’s dance which is so special, and for many, many years it has been a small dream for me as a nature photographer in Israel to photograph the Houbara’s dance in the desert. This year I managed, with the help of quite a bit of luck and a lot of patience, to locate a male Houbara during his dance and approach slowly until I got really close and I was able to photograph him with his chest puffed out.
